Getting Started with Fitness Classes, Barre or Pilates Reformer?

Here are some common questions answered:

QUESTION: What is the benefit of doing Pilates Reformer workouts?

ANSWER: Experience the Pilates Transformation – Pilates creates lasting changes in the body that will transform the way you look and feel. Our studio is equipped with Allegro 2 Pilates Reformers that provide spring-based resistance training for deep muscle strengthening and development. We sculpt long, lean bodies that are stable and strong to the core.
Pilates Reformer class is a non-impact workout that aligns the spine as you strengthen core muscles, increase flexibility, range of motion and agility. Help protect lower back and joint injuries while regaining mobility and core strength. Reformer workouts will challenge and inspire you!

QUESTION: How do I get started?
If you are new to our studio we recommend that you take advantage of one of our Introductory offers. You will be able to try different classes that we offer OR sign up for a private session. Please view our current new client offers here.

QUESTION:What is the difference between the New Client Package, or regular private sessions?

The New Client Package allows clients to learn to exercise safely on the equipment while learning Pilates Reformer Beginner Series. The New Client Package is perfect for someone who would like to be class-ready as quickly as possible.  This package is not right for everyone as it is not appropriate for individuals with significant injuries or limitations. Instructors reserve the right to request that individuals continue private training before entering class as a safety precaution

A 50-minute Private Pilates Session is geared toward the individual goals of each client and is a more comprehensive workout.  Private Sessions are perfect for the following situations: Beginners; Advanced Students who would like to progress further in their personal practice; Athletic cross-training/Dance; Rehab/Post surgery; Pregnancy/Post-natal; Joint/back injuries; Health-issues; Clients who are de-conditioned or would like to work at their own pace.

QUESTION: I have never done barre, do I have to be a dancer or have ballet experience?

ANSWER: No, our classes are small in size we never have more than 10 participants so we are able to provide more instruction. The moves are designed to be modified and increased gradually as you improve in your strength and flexibility. That way workouts are appropriate for all levels, so that beginners as well as more advanced students are able to workout to the best of their ability.

QUESTION: I am new to Pilates Reformer, how do I get started?

ANSWER: We invite you to try your first session free in a small group class (no more than 3 participants). We also offer a discount on first time Private Pilates Reformer Sessions for $65 as a way to have individualized attention and learn the basics on the use of the Reformer equipment.

QUESTION: I have knee and back problems and just finished physical therapy. Should I consider Pilates Reformer Sessions?

ANSWER: Absolutely, as long as your physician has not restricted you the Reformer is the perfect choice for post-rehab, as it is easy on the joints and emphasizes core conditioning. Pilates Reformer will help your posture and alignment while strengthen and elongating your muscles.

QUESTION: I just had a baby, is Pilates Reformer safe?

ANSWER: If your doctor has given you permission to exercise, Pilates Reformer is one of the best ways to get back to your pre-baby body. You will strengthen core, tone the glutes, slim the waist, improve posture and help re-condition the pelvic floor which changes during childbirth and pregnancy. Pilates is an amazing post-natal and beyond workout for moms!
